Respect for Heath Anyone?
We all know Heath Ledger died the other day, but I’m really sickened that the details of his death that are being repeatedly shared on the news, internet, talk shows, etc. Is nothing sacred? Can’t they just say he died, and when the autopsy comes back tell us either yes or no to the drug overdose suspicions? Why are they sharing information about how they found him, who found him, what was found in his room, etc.?! Does that strike anyone else as wrong and disrespectful to him and his family? I wont even bother repeating all the details, because I’m sure everyone has heard them already. I just think that some things are personal, and your physical state and placement when you are found dead is one of them.

Weird Dream
*This is gross*
I had the most bizarre dream last night, and I think it has to do with my new interest (I would not categorize it as an obsession) with Jeff Bridges and his website.
My Dream:
I was driving around a subdivision, and then my belly button started to hurt, I knew I had to get to a bathroom and take out my belly button ring- that was obviously the problem. I happened to be in front of Jeff Bridges’ house, which was really nice by the way. I knocked on the door and his wife (I guess?) answered. I asked her if I could please use her bathroom, I had a piercing and had to get to a bathroom right away. For some reason she let me in, and I went to the bathroom- it was bright yellow- and my belly button (which was also a penis- don’t judge me! You know how dreams are!!) was obviously messed up, and I couldn’t even see the top part of the ring anymore, and it was disgusting and pussy.
I stayed in the bathroom a while because I was freaking out, and then someone opened the door and it was Jeff Bridges’ daughter, who looked a lot like Chastity Bono. I left, and told Jeff’s wife on the way out that I was a big fan of his but not weird about it, so I wasn’t going to stick around and wait for him to get home or anything.
That was my dream, it was weird and kind of gross, and when I woke up my penis was gone! What the hell?
If anyone has a dream book and can interpret this I would love to hear what the hell that dream could mean.

The Dude Is Even More Cool Than I Thought
Oh Internet, when will you ever cease to amaze me. I have only scratched the surface of your surface and don’t have enough hours in the day to fully utilize all the goodness you offer.
Sick! I need a life and a job!!!
I just want to take a moment to tell everyone (all 4 of you) about the coolest website I’ve seen all week. You probably already know about it, like my husband, but just in case:
Digg had an article about the worst celebrity blogs, and a brief synopsis explaining why they suck. On this suck list, they include Courtney Love (which, I have seen her blog, and yes it does in fact suck), Roseanne, Rosie O’Donnell, Lily Allen (who I guess talks about what her shit looks like or something), and Fred Durst.
Mixed in with these crappy celebrities and their crappy blogs, ranked equally sucky, was Jeff Bridges and his blog. Immediately I exclaimed “The Dude has a website! I’m there!” and clicked the link, www.jeffbridges.com and for the next three hours was engulfed in a sea of incredibly interesting movies, sculpture, Jeff Bridges artwork, stories with lessons, music, and an assload of flash art. It was so cool, I can’t believe that article on Digg had the nerve to criticize it!!
If you have an extra 3 hours to kill (I did because my husband was doing stupid homework and watching tv is apparently distracting- go figure) then you should check out this site. I’m biased because I am one of the biggest fans of The Big Lebowski, and have convinced myself that that was Jeff Bridges just being himself, and have modeled my life in The Dude’s image (sad, but true- roaches burning in my lap while driving, bowling, and hideous clothing), but really, I was impressed.

Daily Condemnation:
NOTE: I am holding myself to all these statements as well, we are all guilty of this crap.
I was thinking about the reactions to the California fires, and really not feeling too sorry for all the people there. I should not be like that, but I’m resentful because they’re rich and I’m not! Sorry!
I was also comparing these reactions (in my head) to the response to Katrina, and the STILL lacking aid to New Orleans. I wondered if our response to the fires is better because the people there are richer and whiter, and Hollywood is a US gem? Or are we just more prepared after “learning” from mistakes made during Katrina? Or is it easier to battle a fire than a flood/hurricane?
But here is a good article. The writer looks at these same questions, and has his own opinion on the matter. You may or may not agree with him, but there are more comments at the bottom of the page worth looking at. It gets a little heated, but both sides of the argument (US is Evil vs. US learned from their Katrina mistakes) are touched on, and you can see varying opinions.
I myself am currently conflicted about my opinions towards the United States, it is my homeland, and I am about as American as you can get, but the more I see and read the harder it is for me to accept our behavior- of individuals AND political figures. We are greedy, unsympathetic, violent, and uninformed. We think Visa gives out free money and so does our government, we are all in massive debt (as a country and individually) and use STUFF to keep ourselves happy. We are ignoring serious problems, these fires will be quickly forgotten, just like Katrina, and we will always turn to The Insider instead of the news (not that the two are much different these days).
We ignore signals our planet is giving us about its deterioration, and we continue to waste and waste and waste. We are on welfare yet have gem encrusted cell phones, we don’t like the war but choose to turn up our iPods instead of protest. We are unhealthy but would rather take a “fix it quick pill” rather than live a healthy lifestyle. I see the same basic pattern repeating itself on every level. Greed and laziness and fear is the real pollution here.
